One of the key activities of INCONET-GCC2 project is to organise cluster activities around selected research priorities, through the engagement of stakeholders.
As a result of this engagement, and a needs analysis carried out in the first phase of the INCONET–GCC2 project, it was identified that one of the main research priorities of particular importance for the EU and GCC regions is the topic of Health/Diabetes. It was also found that this vital topic also had the highest potential impact for cooperation in the area of EU-GCC Research & Innovation. In addition, the topic of Health/Diabetes was seen as of particular interest following consultation with the European Commission at the start of the project’s second phase.
A key step in the clustering process is the elaboration of a Brainstorming Report which concisely highlights the current situation with regards to Health/Diabetes in an EU-GCC perspective, as well as key opportunities and challenges that exist for enhancing research cooperation between the two regions. You can read the Brainstorming Report here.
In addition to this snapshot, an identification of the organisations, networks, and communities most active in this field in both regions has been made including where possible contact details. Please access the mapping report here.
Of central importance in fostering bi-regional R&I cooperation is the identification of suitable partners to engage in joint R&I activities. A very useful partner search tool that has been developed in an EU context by the “Fit for Health 2.0”, which is an initiative of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The tool can be accessed by interested parties through the following link http://mm.fitforhealth.eu/
